Alanna and Brent celebrated their love with a 70s wedding theme at the gorgeous Oaks at Duncan Lane. They included elements throughout their wedding to reflect their love of 1970s culture.
Alanna & Brent actually booked me on the day of my birthday this year. Alanna reached out explaining their photographer canceled on them last minute.
I typically try not to work on my birthday but when I read her email I felt so drawn to helping them. They also mentioned they’d be having a 70’s wedding theme which I was so excited about. So I jumped on the opportunity to book them. We did their engagement photos in Fallbrook and instantly hit it off.
I loved Alanna’s vibrant appearance and personality. Additionally, Alanna and Brent had amazing chemistry making it easy to see why they were so in love. It’s always so nice meeting my clients before the wedding day. It really helps to set everyone at ease and allows us the chance to get through the awkward first meeting stage before their wedding day.
We started the day off with getting ready photos of both the bride and groom. The bridal suite was absolutely gorgeous and made for some elegant getting ready photos.
Alanna had decided she wanted to do a first look with her bridal party which compromised of all her closets friends. I thought this was such a cute idea! Many tears of joy were shed as they saw her for the first time. I love these intimate moments because it truly reflects how special a wedding day is. It’s so nice to be surrounded by your closest family and friends.
Afterwards, the couple had their first look in a grove of oak trees. It was an intimate and emotional moment that just the two of them were able to celebrate. I love first looks because it gives the couple a chance to shake off some of the nerves before the ceremony.
Following their first look, we did photos of Alanna and Brent with their bridal party. Once that was completed we did their couples portraits before the ceremony. This really helps allow the couple to save time doing portraits after the ceremony. This way they can go enjoy cocktail hour with their friends and family.
The ceremony was absolutely lovely and Brent and Alanna shared personal vows with each other. The reception included speeches from some of their friends and ended with everyone tearing up the dance floor.
The Oaks at Duncan lane is a newer venue. I was so excited that Alanna and Brent chose this as their wedding venue. Brent and Alanna had several details throughout their day that helped tie in their 70s wedding theme. They had a beautifully curated invitation suite, floral vow books and vintage rings. This really helped highlight their retro them too.
They had a “naked” cake at their reception that had warm colored flowers placed on it. These colors were very popular in the 1970s. They also chose to use this color palette throughout the wedding which helped give everything a cohesive look. Instead of a guest book they had all their guests sign a record which I thought was really unique and cool.
This gorgeous wedding venue is a family owned business and is located in Pala, California. There property is huge and has endless photo worthy locations scattered throughout. The ceremony space is set between two large oak trees. The reception area is surrounded by oak trees that are hundreds of years old and wrapped in string lights to light up the night.
This location also includes a cocktail hour space, a bridal suite, groomsmen dressing loft, a honeymoon suite, which located in the main building called the Oaks Nest.
The variety and space that this venue offers is incredible and I would encourage you to check it out if you are searching for a wedding venue. The Oaks at Duncan Lane was the perfect venue for Alanna and Brent’s 70s wedding theme. They were able to incorporate many details throughout the venue to enhance their 70s wedding theme.
“Brent and I LOVE THE PHOTOS omg, you absolutely KILLED IT! I’m so happy you wound up being our photographer!! Thank you for everything!”
