Themed weddings can add a lot of fun and excitement to a wedding day and Vanessa and Manny’s 70s themed wedding was nothing less then amazing! I felt incredibly honored to be apart of their day and enjoyed all the festivities.
There are several reasons why couples choose to have a themed wedding, one of which, includes being able to showcase their relationships uniqueness. Having a theme for a wedding can also help couples narrow down what they want their day to look like. This can be really helpful when looking for venues, vendors, and décor.
Manny and Vanessa got married at the Blomgren Ranch in Santa Clarita, CA. They invested so much time into the details of their wedding. Vanessa and Manny’s 70s inspired wedding was executed perfectly. They even had a live Beatles cover band! I thought this was an incredible way to create a 70s inspired atmosphere for all of their guests. Overall the wedding was so lively and I adore 70s themed weddings with all of the vibrant colors and music!
Planning a themed wedding is exactly the same as if you were planning a traditional “black tie” wedding. However, you will need to decide to what extent you want to commit to your theme and contact vendors that align with your vision.
Some couples choose to go all out with their wedding themes, while other couples pick and choose where to incorporate the theme throughout their wedding.
Reaching out to vendors who have experience with themed weddings is really helpful too. Connecting with these vendors will help make the planning process less stressful and they are likely very knowledgeable on how to create the look and feel you are going for. Having a strong vendor team is always a must.
1. Choosing a Venue – You will want to consider looking at a venue that resonates with your chosen motif. This will help create an atmosphere that represents your theme for your guests. I think this is probably one of the most important factors because you want your guests to feel emersed in the experience and overall ambience. Choosing a location that matches your theme really sets the stage for the feel of your wedding.
2. Picking a Color Palette – When picking your color palette you will want to make sure that you choose colors that are associated with your theme. Many colors are naturally grouped with certain themes, so this can be really important for bringing your concept together. For example: Manny and Vanessa chose a warm and vibrant color palette which matched the popular colors of the 1970s. By choosing these colors they were able to incorporate them throughout their venue and the clothing of their bridal party and guests to highlight the theme.
3. Details and Décor – Incorporating your theme in to the small details of your wedding day and the décor can have a huge impact on how the experience of the event is. By doing this you will help tie together loose ends and give your guests a clear understanding of the theme. Details you can consider incorporating your theme into are: invitations, cake toppers, jewelry, accessories, wedding favors, etc. Décor you might want to consider: table cloths, florals, furniture rentals, etc.
