A first look is an incredible way to kick off your wedding day! First looks give you and your partner the opportunity to see each other in a private setting before the celebrations begin. Including a first look on your wedding day can help calm the nerves you may be feeling, give you both some alone time, and give you another opportunity to spend time together. 

You Look Your Best!

Your makeup and hair are fresh, you have been relaxing in the air conditioning and you just sprayed your perfume on – this is the perfect time to have your first look! A first look is usually immediately after you’re finished getting ready so you look flawless and feel your best. 

It Gives you a Chance to Calm the Nerves

Emotions are running high on your wedding day and a first look allows you to see each other in a private setting. Instead of immediately jumping into your ceremony and having 60 seconds to walk down the isle and process your first glance you can take the time during your first look to breathe together, cry together, and talk through your excitement and nerves. There are only a few moments during your wedding day when you get the opportunity to relax just the two of you. So you definitely want to soak them up. 

Do a Majority of your Photos after the First Look

Having a first look allows you the chance to do a majority of your bridal party and family photos before the ceremony. Usually everyone is still looking their best and they haven’t been sitting through the ceremony in the hot sun yet. 

If photography is a priority to you, then a first look allows your photographer more time to photograph the both of you and your bridal party. Not to mention that it gives your photographer the ability to get creative with the extra time. You also get the chance utilize every minute that you hired your photographer for!

Enjoy Cocktail Hour and Your Guests

Most wedding days start early in the morning and everyone is usually starving by the end of the ceremony. Since you already did a majority of your photos right after your first look it allows you the chance to head to cocktail hour much faster.
