This is the California backyard wedding of your dreams! This gallery is filled with tons of neutral colors and soft moments. Backyard weddings are often extremely intimate and provide a chance to have your wedding in a location that means a lot to you, making it feel extra special. This also allows you to have a space for your closest friends and family to still attend with ease and be a part of your day.
I already met the bride during her bachelorette party in Joshua Tree and Palm Springs earlier that year eliminating any awkward introductions on the day of the wedding. This is why some of my wedding packages have additional photoshoots included such as a bachelorette photoshoot or an engagement photoshoot. I always feel like it adds to the ease of photography on the wedding day when we are able to meet ahead of time because often the couple will already feel comfortable around me, understands my process and is aware of what to expect when working together. In turn, this leads to photographing moments that evoke more emotions.
Every square inch of this California backyard wedding was absolutely stunning. All of the bride’s friends came together and helped her DIY the most amazing day. It took place in a backyard in Ventura, California. Since I had photographed the bachelorette party for her previously I already knew the bridal party behind the magic of her wedding details. It is always fun to know some of the guests before the day of as well as the couple! My second shooter and I arrived early to capture some awesome detail shots and prep for a full wedding day.
The house itself was gorgeous and we were able to capture some bridal portraits and even the first look inside the home! After the first look took place the couple was able to read their vows privately and included their adorable golden doodle. We made sure to take lots of photos including their pup because he was so important to them.
The ceremony took place outdoors and the vows were so heartfelt. Afterwards we took the couple up the road to a look out point the groom suggested and took some photos there. When we returned to the home it was time to party! The couple went straight into their grand entrance and first dance then Michelle snuck off for a quick wardrobe change into one of the best bridal jumpsuits I have ever seen. Wardrobe changes are always such a fun and unique thing to add to your special day.
The next event that took place was the father daughter dance where her dad surprised everyone including Michelle with his swing dancing abilities! After all the official dances ended everyone hit the dance floor and even lifted the bride and groom up to “surf the crowd” a bit.
Over all you could see the love everyone had for the couple that night and I was so glad to have been apart of it from start to finish.
